Magic Theatre & Campo Santo

Feb 28th Through Mar 17th

Magic Theatre and Campo Santo present Dirty White Teslas Make Me Sad, a play by A.M. (Ashley) Smiley about re-gentrification and displacement, in Building D at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture. Directed by Raelle Myrick-Hodges, the play runs from February 28, 2024 through March 17, 2024;  Wednesday through Saturday, 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, 4:00 p.m. (Saturday, March 16, 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 17, 3:00 p.m.).

Dirty White Teslas Make Me Sad is a new performance work about the re-gentrification of San Francisco and the displacement of Black folks from their neighborhoods. Dirty White Teslas is a testimonial about people and their struggles with hope. The story unfolds over a few days in the life of Sloosh, our protagonist. We follow Sloosh — a young Queer AfroLatina from Bayview Hunters Point caught up in a transcendental rut. This project is one of the recipients of the prestigious Gerbode Foundation Theater Award.
