PERFORMANCES HAVE BEEN EXTENDED TO SUNDAY, AUGUST 27, 2023

Magic Theatre and Campo Santo present their third production in 2023 with Josephine’s Feast by Star Finch at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture. Directed by Ellen Sebastian Chang, Josephine’s Feast depicts a family reaching to find its future while also figuring out a way to release from the past.

The new play follows a matriarch on the verge in a groundbreaking and gorgeous way. Josephine’s Feast is intentionally about a Black mother, ready to make an inspired and somewhat unknown change, as she steps into the future and thereby foists her family into confronting change.

Finch weighs issues of legacy, spirituality, and growth; set against the comedy and chaos of true-to-life, funny-as-hell family dynamics. Josephine’s Feast gives audiences an expansive view of the Black family as a way to break open and/or embrace beliefs and desires.

Josephine’s Feast plays August 2, 2023 through August 20, 2023, Wednesday through Saturday, 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, 3:00 p.m. Opening night is Saturday, August 5, 2023, 8:00 p.m. The performances have been extended to include Friday and Saturday, August 25 and 26, 2023, 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 27, 2023, 3:00 p.m.
