Support Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture resident organization Magic Theatre in its mission to nurture playwrights and new play development at the Martha Heasley Cox Virtual Virgin Play Festival 2020-2021.

Magic Theatre presents an exclusive insider’s look into new play development during the Virtual Virgin Play Festival 2020, December 17, 2020 through January 14, 2021 (more dates being added later). So far, the festival features three playwrights reading their own plays in the virtual spotlight online.

On Thursday, December 17, 2020, acclaimed writer, actor, and musician Melis Aker reads her work, When My Mama Was A Hittite, online at 8:00 p.m. Mona Mansour reads unseen on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. (directed by Dawn Monique Williams)

Rachel Lynett presents Apologies To Lorraine Hansberry (You Too August Wilson) on Thursday, January 14, 2021, 6:00 p.m. (directed by Dawn Monique Williams). Magic plans to add more weekly readings in 2021.

The virtual Artist Roundtable, “Creating Theatre In An Unprecedented Time,” takes place on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 7;00 p.m. Speakers  are Sarah Nina Hayon, Sean San Jose, Evren Odcikin, Leigh Rondon-Davis, and Dawn Monique Williams. Magic’s Interim Artistic Director Sonia Fernandez moderates the discusson.

Molly Olis Krost reads her play Nanay on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. Lisa Marie Rollins directs the reading.
