Jun 11th @ 1:00 p.m.Join award-winning Mill Valley Philharmonic (MVP) for a free concert program featuring American composers at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. This concert is part of MVP’s new Local Parks Tour that brings free music to people in their communities at local, state, and national parks. This concert in Gallery 308 is the final stop in MVP’s Spring 2017 series, which included performances in the bandshell at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, Angel Island State Park, and Mill Valley.
MVP Director Laurie Cohen leads the orchestra in performing works by Samuel Barber, Aaron Copeland, Edward MacDowell, and Florence Price. The composers’ works present themes based on African American dance, American nursery rhymes, Native American songs, and images of the American West.
