Jim Labioda: Paintings of Landscapes & Saints

Presented By

On the Commons for Art & Social Change

Oct 20th @ 7:00 p.m.

On the Commons for Art & Social Change presents the work of painter Jim Labioda at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Labioda’s exhibit, “Paintings of Landscapes & Saints,” expresses his connection to the sacred in nature and in human form.

The exhibit displays landscape compositions of oil on canvas, painted from memory, of past and present locations both nearby and faraway. Also on view are portraits of revered individuals painted in egg tempera on board and gesso. These works incorporate the artist’s personal interpretations with traditional imagery, such as religious icons. Labioda’s artistic process involves veneration and meditation and his two painting styles trace the evolution of his expressive methods.
