“They don’t even know what it is to be a fan. Y’know? To truly love some silly little piece of music, or some band, so much that it hurts.”

Almost Famous

About: Cameron Crowe’s semi-autobiographical valentine to rock-n-roll follows 15-year-old aspiring journalist William Miller (Fugit) on his first big music story for Rolling Stone. On tour with up & coming band Stillwater, William negotiates the fraught relationship between lead guitarist Russell Hammond (Crudup) and lead singer Jeff Bebe (Lee) while managing his crush on super fan (a “band-aid” and not a “groupie”) Penny Lane (Hudson). Over his mother’s (McDormand) objections, William gets the story if not the girl.  Watch the early 1970’s rock star decadence flow freely.
