“I walked all night, I walked as I had walked years before when my mind swam with guilt at the thought of killing. I had thought of all the things I had done, and couldn’t undo. And I longed for a moment’s peace.”

Interview with the Vampire

About: This long-anticipated adaptation of Anne Rice’s classic 1976 novel unfolds as San Francisco reporter Daniel Molloy (Slater) records the life story of Louis de Pointe du Lac (Pitt) – a man who claims to be a vampire.  The film cuts to Louis’ transformation by the vampire Lestat in 1791 Louisiana and to the men’s relationship, complicated by their differing views of what they are and how they should move through the human world.  After Lestat turns the young Claudia (Dunst) to create their own vampire family, three distinct natures now war with each other – and Claudia and Louis flee to Europe.  New vampire families, very old ways of being, and new conflicts buoy Louis through time, as Molloy comes to the wrong conclusion about the lesson of Louis’ tale.
