EnActe Arts

Through Nov 20th

EnActe Arts presents The Jungle Book — Rudyard Revised, a lively musical celebrating its South Asian roots, in the Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture.

The Jungle Book — Rudyard Revised is a foot-stomping adventure reclaimed, re-imagined, and rewritten for current times. One of humanity’s best loved tales returns to its South Asian roots with EnActe’s contemporary sparkle! As the jungle and the village collide, discover how animals and humans might find connection and co-existence with each other, and repair relationships with the environment.

With lush, indigenous-sourced costumes and exquisite makeup, music by world-renowned jazz saxophonist and Hindustani classical musician George Brooks, Kalaripayattu-infused choreography by Navarasa Dance Theater, and high-tech projections using work by award-winning Pattachitra artist Avinash Karn, this original EnActe Arts production enthralls audiences of all ages!

EnActe partners with the Centre for Wildlife Studies to raise awareness of and funds for tiger conservancy. There is a tiger conservancy exhibit in the lobby and Dr. Krithi Karanth speaks before each show about her work’s impact on the ground in India.

Written in the EnActe Conservatory by a diverse group of artists ages six years to 60 years, The Jungle Book: Rudyard Revised is a collective piece of wisdom for our times, a story told with joy, authenticity, and a whole lot of heart!
