Opera Parallèle presents The Pigeon Keeper in the Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture. The Pigeon Keeper is a world-premiere opera composed by David Hanlon with a libretto by Stephanie Fleischmann.

The Pigeon Keeper explores a magical realist world where themes of otherness and belonging take center stage. Young Orsia and her fisherman father find a refugee boy adrift at sea. On a quest to find him a home, Orsia encounters the mysterious Pigeon Keeper, a village outcast, and learns that compassion can come from the most unlikely places. Through ethereal storytelling and a rich, emotional score, this opera mines the transformative power of the kindness of strangers, and our shared connection to humanity.

The Pigeon Keeper plays on Friday, March 7, 2024 and Saturday, March 8, 2024 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, March 9, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Pigeon Keeper has been co-commissioned by the Santa Fe Opera, co-commissioned by and premiered at Opera Parallèle, and co-commissioned by Opera Omaha and Opera On The Avalon. The Pigeon Keeper is a co-production by Opera Parallèle, Opera Omaha, and Opera On The Avalon.
