SFDanceworks Season Four
SFDanceworks
Through Jun 22ndSFDanceworks presents its fourth season performances in the Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture. Season Four features works by Alejandro Cerrudo and Olivier Wevers, as well as world premieres by Andrea Schermoly, Brett Conway, and Laura O’Malley.
Cerrudo’s duet for female dancers, “Cloudless,” is performed by Ana Lopez of Hubbard Street Dance Company, Chicago and Laura O’Malley of SFDanceworks (SFDW). Wevers created “Silent Scream” with his Whim W’him dance company in Seattle. “Silent Scream” has been described as a “sweeping, anti-fascist ballet” and draws inspiration from Charlie Chaplin’s music and films, including The Great Dictator.
Schermoly, formerly of Nederlands Dance Theater, creates a new work with SFDW dancers. Conway and O’Malley elaborate their explorations first seen in SFDW’s 4PLAY program.
Former San Francisco Ballet member James Sofranko is SFDW’s Artistic Director and Danielle Rowe is SFDW’s Associate Artistic Director. Join Sofranko and Rowe, for an exclusive opening-night event on Thursday, June 20, 2019, that includes a pre-show dinner from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at stylish Dorian Restaurant (in SF’s Marina District at Chestnut and Fillmore streets), premium orchestra seats for the 8:00 p.m. Cowell Theater performance, and a post-show reception.
