A Room (Of Our Own)

San Francisco International Arts Festival

Through Jun 4th

punkkiCO Dance Company presents A Room (Of Our Own): a live performance incorporating movement, film, and art to express what it means to be female. Inspired by Virginia Woolf, Gloria Steinem, and other strong women, the production features Raisa Punkki’s original choreography for four dancers and “Hahmo”: a cinematic manifestation interacting with the narrative in unusual and evocative ways. A Room (Of Our Own) examines how society views the feminine, what is seen as female power, what happens as women pass through the seasons of their lives, and aspects of age as a concept beyond just being a number.

NOTE: Open to adults and children 10 years and older only.

These performances by punkkiCO Dance Company are hosted by Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC) as part of the San Francisco International Arts Festival, which runs from May 25 – June 4 exclusively at FMCAC. The Festival features more than 100 performances by over 60 different artists, ensembles and companies. Get discounts on tickets to see multiple shows at the Festival by buying a Festival pass.
