The Arion Press Literary Dinner on Thursday, October 17, 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., features Daniel Handler and other authors and artists in Gallery 308, Building A. Attend a cocktail reception, light program, seated dinner, and the first public viewing of Arion’s atelier with the pressroom, bindery, gallery, and foundry. Buy Tickets
From 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, author Daniel Handler appears at the “Arion Press Artist Talk: Fables of Aesop,” Arion’s new book, in the Bayfront Theater, Building B. Seven of the 15 artists who illustrated Aesop participate as well. Fables of Aesop includes modern morals penned by Daniel Handler and a sculptural box designed by Kiki Smith. Buy Tickets
Celebrate Arion’s arrival in Building B at the free Open House on Saturday, October 19, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Enjoy interactive walkthroughs of the traditional crafts of typecasting, letterpress printing, and bookbinding; along with hands-on activities such as printing a letterpress keepsake and folding paper signatures into a souvenir booklet in the bindery. Tour the new Arion Press Gallery, featuring an exhibition of artwork from Arion’s upcoming Fables of Aesop publication. The exhibition includes original works by Sandow Birk, Enrique Chagoya, Kenturah Davis, Natalie Frank, Audrey Niffenegger, Michele Oka Doner, Richard Wagener, and more. Free Admission.
