French’s lecture focuses on the history and genius of Buccellati’s amazing metalworking techniques, including the goldsmith’s famed honeycomb and tulle lacework designs. French explains Buccellati’s influences, including Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo art and architecture. Many of Buccellati’s pieces are also encrusted with fabulous gems and inlaid with other precious metals.

A reception follows the lecture, which concludes with astonishing images of cups, boxes, and other art objects Buccellati created for the sheer joy of celebrating the goldsmith’s art.
