Landing On the Veil Exhibit

Presented By

San Francisco Art Institute | Fort Mason Campus

Through Oct 18th

The San Francisco Art Institute | Fort Mason Campus presents an introspective group show, “Landing On the Veil,” in the Swell Gallery at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. “Landing On the Veil” seeks to excavate that which is concealed by the veil; a cultural object that obscures, masks, or disguises hidden meanings, concerns, or identities.

Through photography, printmaking, painting, and sculpture, “Landing On the Veil” peels back facades, exposes counterfeit memories, collapses the space between subjects and intentions, or spaces between public and private environments. The exhibit also wrestles with conflicts around memory, ritual, simulations, translation, transition, and dislocation, as manifested in spatial and temporal concepts.

The participating artists are: Kuo-Chen (Kacy) Jung, Jordan Homes (“Landing On the Veil” curator), Alexis Lastomircy, and Lauren Szabo.

The opening reception takes place Friday, October 6, 2017, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
