SFMOMA Artists Gallery highlights the work of painter Mark Bowles and photographer Nick Lawrence in an exhibit at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture.

California landscape painter Mark Bowles presents a bold new series of large-scale landscapes that explore color and composition. Nick Lawrence shows work from his ongoing “Ink Factory” photographic project documenting urban decay and artistic renewal at a long-abandoned ink factory in Oakland, CA. Graffiti artists inspired by millions of square feet of blank concrete “canvas” at the vacant and deteriorating structure created room-size spray-paint tableaus of fanciful figures and colorful geometric patterns, incorporating architectural elements such as ceilings and columns into their visions.
