Rule No Rule Exhibit

Presented By

Embark Gallery

Through Apr 28th

Embark Gallery presents “Rule No Rule,” an exhibit that celebrates the West Coast art scene’s interdisciplinary nature and how this nature allows art to cross boundaries, break rules, and re-make rules at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Juried by Elise Boivin, CEO and Founder of ArtlyOwl.com, “Rule No Rule” showcases joyously uninhibited, mostly abstract work from the Wild West.

Embark Gallery and Boivin selected artwork invoking the freedom and fluidity espoused by local art institutions and focusing primarily on abstraction. The art explores the ethos of lawlessness, undiscovered territories, innovation through color and form, and blurring the lines between different media via an interdisciplinary approach, including performance.

Exhibiting artists include: Amy Cella (San Francisco State University (SFSU), Yangyi Chen (San Francisco Art Institute, SFAI), Joseph Ferriso (Stanford University), Sean Howe (Stanford University), Charmaine Koh (California College of the Arts, CCA), Emily Meisler (SFAI), Leslie Samson (SFSU), and Xiaoling Yi (SFAI).

The opening reception takes place on Friday, March 23, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
