The San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) | Fort Mason Campus revives the grand salon-style exhibitions of the 18th and 19th centuries with “Salon Ouvert (Open Salon)” at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture. Open to all eligible artists in the SFAI community, “Open Salon” invites graduate students to submit work in any media. Curated by Joseph Robertson, the exhibit features artwork stacked salon-style on the walls and also expands the salon display to floors and other spaces.

During the opening reception on Friday, November 30, 2018, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., salon visitors cast votes for “Best In Show” pieces. The three artists whose works receive the most votes win cash prizes. The winning artwork appears in a related “Best In Show” exhibit on the outside wall of the Schafer Gallery.
