“You’re the first king we haven’t eaten.”
Where the Wild Things Are
About: Based on Maurice Sendak’s beloved 1963 children’s book, young Max (Records) feels frustrated by his daily life, particularly his mother’s (Keener) failure to pay attention to his every whim. In his wolf suit, he throws a tantrum and runs away, boarding a small boat that takes him to the island of the Wild Things: big and beautiful creatures who can make quite a big mess. Max pretends to be a magical monarch who can lead their revels – and the Wild Things accept him as their king. Max’s masquerade won’t hold forever, and Wild Thing Carol’s (Gandolfini) tantrums won’t be diverted for long. As the Wild Things begin to test and turn on him, Max searches for both a resolution and a way back home.
