The Little Mermaid at YPT

Presented By

Young Performers Theatre

Through May 15th

King Neptune’s strong-willed daughter, The Little Mermaid, embarks on a solo voyage to the top of the sea in this new adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale told from the stage by the Young Performers Theatre. When the mermaid reaches the surface, she meets the shy Ollie, not exactly Prince Charming, but he has an awesome sense of humor.

But all’s not well in Neptune’s realm: the king’s scheming sea urchin Major-Domo is the real power behind the pearly throne and the mermaid’s outspoken Granny is a bit overbearing at times. Another threat originates with the delightfully evil Sea Witch, who has designs on the mermaid’s most precious possession and will stop at nothing to get it. The witch enlists the aid of a pair of sea turtles, who act as her henchman in pursuing The Little Mermaid.

This tale is truly delightful retelling of the tale by the young actors and actresses.
