We/AoA

San Francisco International Arts Festival

Through May 28th

This performance is a shared bill with STEAMROLLER Dance Company.

Laura Larry Arrington’s dance performances blend elements that draw upon time, space, body, and wholeness. And in We/AoA, she’ll use dance to explore elements that surround the power, the biology and magnitude of whales.

Please note on May 28 it will be relaxed performance.

The first vertebrates grew jaws. They closed their mouths, but still everything gets in. Gills become lungs. Bodies become identities. Land becomes nation, but still everything gets in, and will find a way out, a chemical change not a physical one. Science says we can not touch anything. The jaw falls open. a sound falls out. A whale, with baleen. Everything gets in

These performances by Laura Larry Arrington are hosted by Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture as part of the San Francisco International Arts Festival, which runs from May 19 – June 5 exclusively at FMCAC. The Festival features over 100 performances by 50 different ensembles, as well as an expansive arts exhibition celebrating 100 years of the Dada Movement.
