Oedipus Staged Reading

San Francisco International Arts Festival

May 27th @ 7:30 p.m.

The Museum of Performance + Design and John Travis present a staged reading of Sophocles’ classic Greek tragedy Oedipus, directed by Jamie Lyons. The production uses the acclaimed translation and adaptation of Oedipus the King (Oedipus Rex) by British writer Anthony Burgess of Clockwork Orange fame.

Oedipus is the iconic anti-hero who tries to change his tragic fate, but ends up fulfilling his dreaded destiny to kill his father and marry his mother, despite efforts to prevent his downfall.

This performance by the Museum of Performance + Design is hosted by Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC) as part of the San Francisco International Arts Festival, which runs from May 25 – June 4 exclusively at FMCAC. The Festival features more than 100 performances by over 60 different artists, ensembles and companies. Get discounts on tickets to see multiple shows at the Festival by buying a Festival pass.
