Leonardo Celebrates 50th Anniversary: The Convening

Through Nov 4thThe San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) | Fort Mason Campus hosts an inspiring event, “Leonardo‘s 50th Anniversary Celebration: The Convening,” at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture. Leonardo is a family of science, technology, and art publications and programs operated by ISAST (The International Society For The Arts, Sciences, and Technology). “The Convening” is the culminating event in Leonardo‘s year-long, international recognition of its 50th anniversary with dozens of global observances.
Through “The Convening,” Leonardo hopes to bring together attendees from multiple, diverse disciplines and experiences to participate in a challenging, vital network with artistic, scientific, and technological elements. “The Convening” schedule includes action clusters, trans-disciplinary experiences, peripatetic conversations by The Exploratorium, an international women’s panel, and vision planning with presentations from the National Academy of Sciences and Arizona State University.
The first day of “The Convening” concludes with an evening reception, “Intersections,” curated and performed by CODAME Art + Tech, on Saturday, November 3, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. ($20) “Intersections” features a Kinetech Arts performance sponsored by Djerassi Resident Artists Program, a Cylind Media Lab installation, and a food truck rally feast.
Admission for Saturday, November 3, 2018 is $155. Sunday, November 4, 2018 admission is $128. Combined two-day admission is $215 until Sunday, September 30, 2018, and $295 thereafter. Online registration is available. Apply for a scholarship by September 30, 2018.
