De Rompe y Raja Cultural Association

San Francisco International Arts Festival 2018

Presented By

Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture & SFIAF

Jun 2nd @ 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

De Rompe y Raja Cultural Association presents Christo Moreno, a criolo musical theater adaptation of a sacred story at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Christo Moreno explains the importance of the African legacy in Peru by telling the story of Lima’s patron saint, El Senor de los Milagros. This saint has origins in the slave ships that brought the people who would become Afro-Peruvians to Peru. Christo Moreno is an epic legend that spans early times when Angolan slaves painted black Christs on mud brick walls in the 17th century to the current era when tens of thousands of people take part in Christo Moreno processions.

Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC) hosts this performance by De Rompe y Raja Cultural Association as part of the San Francisco International Arts Festival, which runs from May 24, 2018 to June 3, 2018 exclusively at FMCAC. The Festival features more than 60 performances by close to 40 different artists, ensembles, and companies. Get discounts on tickets to see multiple shows at the Festival by buying a Festival pass. More details HERE.
