Film Anthology – Sophie Calle
Ars Citizen
SCREENINGS HAPPENED ON JULY 3, 2017 & AUGUST 1, 2017.
Featuring three films by Sophie Calle, this anthology at the Roxie Theater (3117 16th Street) screened No Sex Last Night (1996) in which Calle and Greg Shepard drive across the U.S. before getting married in Las Vegas; Untitled (2012), a self-portrait film that includes the purchase of her gravesite in Bolinas, California; and Contacts (1997), a film where Calle shares the stories behind her work.
These screenings happened in tandem with Missing, a thoughtful survey of Calle’s art since the 1980s that included her most emblematic projects from the last decade — True Stories, Rachel Monique, Take Care of Yourself, The Last Image, and Voir la mer — and presented them in a dramatic setting along the San Francisco waterfront.
